August will feature local artist, Libby Gibbs. In the fall of 2015, Libby attended a painting class at the Visual Arts Center in Panama City Beach where she painted her first piece “My Deer.” Her first painting which literally started as a whim, became them. Being self taught, she experienced growing pains and learning curves. However, she experienced pure bliss which she refers to as her “giddy heart.”
Her paintings are her critters, which have a little different personality with their own story. A huge part of the joy in creating her paintings are when she hears that they have made someone smile.
She created the Adoption Auction and 100% of the proceeds went to abused and neglected animals. Libby looks forward to continuing to donate by periodically creating special works to raise awareness through her art.
Libby has attended several art retreats to explore new techniques and mediums. Recently she discovered acrylic pouring and a new level of excitement has begun.
Her goal and wish for the “Part of My Heart” art is to continue learning and make people feel the same giddiness she feels. As well as to continue to contribute to animals and charitable organizations in creative ways.
Libby Gibbs is married and parent to four rescue cats. She also works at the Niceville Public Library.
